I am an economist and professor in the Paul H. O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University Indianapolis (IUI). I received my Ph.D. in economics from Iowa State University in 2011. My research assesses the short- and long-term effects of climate change, policy, and macroeconomics on agriculture, energy, transportation, and the environment. In addition to quantifying future developments affecting U.S. agricultural production at various spatial scales, I am also investigating the implications of decarbonizing the U.S. transportation sector and its effects on biomass and bioenergy demand. My research is forward-looking and evaluates public policy aimed at reducing GHG emissions while meeting food, energy, and transportation needs. Climate change, improvements in vehicle fuel efficiency, and the global proliferation of electric cars will have long-term consequences for society. My work seeks to provide answers to some of the questions arising from these developments through economic modeling of energy and climate change policies.  I am also co-editor for Applied Economic Perspectives and Policy (AEPP).
